Subject line: Qualified candidate & valuable addition to your company

Dear Mr. Cantwell:

I am writing to you in hopes of being considered for a job at Midwest Homes for Pets.Your company’s ongoing product research, development and testing make your pet environments and containment systems among the world’s most trusted, and I’d like to identify myself as a proud employee at this company. I believe that my love of animals and experience taking care of them, my academic training from The City College of New York, along with my experience gained from working at Kumon Learning Center, makes me a valuable addition to your company.

For as long as I can remember, I have always had a passion for animals, despite not owning any pets myself. However, I started volunteering my spare time to spend it with my neighbors’ pets. This shows my dedication to what I love, and the lengths I’ll go to do what I love. This resulted in my neighbors eventually asking me to keep coming and spending time with and taking care of their pets because they’d be at work all day. I’d watch, walk, feed, play with, bathe and groom one neighbor’s dog, and watch, feed, and accompany another neighbor’s cat. This proves I have experience dealing with animals and that I am a trustworthy person since multiple neighbors entrust me with some very important members of their families — their pets. I have a real passion for animals and want to help make quality, innovative products at this family-oriented, wellness-driven company that shares my views.

My education at The City College of New York has sufficiently prepared me with a solid foundation on concepts in engineering, as well as a solid foundation in technical communication, which I gained from my Writing for Engineering course. I was often asked to work on group projects throughout my time at CCNY and considering the fact that all of these projects have been a success, I can confidently say I possess the skills required to collaborate with my future coworkers at Midwest Homes for Pets.

While working at Kumon Learning Center, I was able to assist students when they were struggling. Although this seems irrelevant, this proves I am fully capable of assessing my teammates work/ideas and I have the capability to suggest changes where needed, in a way that won’t offend my teammates. During my time here, I learned patience and became more understanding, and I gained problem solving skills. On numerous occasions, I have been asked to translate for Spanish-speaking parents/students, which not only shows I possess communication skills, but also that I can effectively communicate in more than one language.

I feel that I’d be a perfect fit for your company because it combines my two passions: animals and engineering. Even your company’s slogan, “Because Life Goes Better with Pets®,” resonates with me.  Something that will always be true, for myself and for your company, is that the pets’ best interest and comfort will be at heart of every product made. I’d like to partake in the various tests, such as The Water Repellency Test, Drop Test, Continuous Impact Test, Static Load Test and Handle Strength and Durability Test, conducted in order to ensure durability and quality of products.

The attached résumé includes various aspects of myself, not included in this letter, that make me a valuable addition to your company. Kindly and carefully review this résumé and contact me at sarahhxx4@gmail.com if you have any questions or would like to schedule an interview. I look forward to hearing back from you.

Best Regards,

Sarah Khan
